Cryptids

Sculptures in concrete that incorporate plastic plants, soundscape and video

The debris of our civilisation, packing material and plastic bottles are used to create the moulds for a cast in concrete sculptures. Cryptids are concerned with the materiality of the city; the remains of the ongoing civilisation creating speculative constellations.

Cryptids are enactments of anti-anthropocentrism, placing importance on the symbiosis of humans, animals, plants and things. The work refers to the ecological relationships of the species without separation of the biological and the social in the context of “natureculture” thinking (Donna Haraway).

These creatures confuse the authentic with the fake.

I conduct teach-ins for the public. A teach-in is a once popular form of an intensive teaching, discussion and information event, which has fallen into oblivion during recent years.
